Our review
PlatinumLED built the SaunaMAX Pro specifically for hot, humid environments: a fanless, all-aluminum housing with an IP65 rating, specified to withstand heat up to 150°F (65°C) and the moisture of a working sauna. The light engine is substantial — 320 LEDs spanning the brand's six-wavelength R+|NIR+ spectrum (480, 630, 660, 810, 830, and 850 nm) across a 39-by-10-inch face, drawing 201 watts. The box includes the hanging bracket, door hook, patch cable, remote control, and eye protection, so in-sauna mounting needs no extra purchases, and the company confirms it can also be used elsewhere in the home. It carries the same 3-year warranty and 100,000-hour rated lifespan as the BIOMAX line, with a 60-day trial.
The compromises follow from the environment it is built for. There is no touchscreen or app — a remote handles control, which is more practical with gloves or in low light but less granular than the BIOMAX PRO interface, and the page does not advertise the PRO's adjustable pulse system. And although the panel is 39 inches long, PlatinumLED's own spec table lists it as best for targeted treatment. At $959 it is not the cheapest way to buy 320 LEDs, but as of now it has few direct competitors in the heat-rated niche it occupies.
