LIT Method's stainless barrel is the style pick of the entry-to-mid market: a cedar-clad, 316 marine-grade stainless-lined barrel with 2 inches of foam insulation, a built-in bench, and a lockable insulated hardtop. The catch is that the $3,199 base price is for the tub alone - the 1 HP chiller/heater package that unlocks 37 F cooling, UVC/ozone sanitation, and app control pushes the system to $5,999, and even then the warranty is only 1 year.

As a tub, the barrel is genuinely well specified. The 42-inch-diameter, 39.5-inch-tall vessel pairs a Pacific cedar exterior with a 316 marine-grade stainless steel liner, wraps 2 inches of PU foam insulation around the water, and includes a hard insulated outdoor cover with child-safety locks, a matching cedar step stool, and a drain pump adapter. At 150 lbs empty and about 1,100 lbs filled, it is a permanent-feeling piece that LIT rates for indoor and outdoor use, filled from a garden hose with no plumbing. In the base configuration there is no chiller, so cooling is ice-fed and there is no powered filtration or sanitation - the published water volume is not stated, though the roughly 950 lbs of water implied by the filled weight works out to around 114 gallons.
The $5,999 'Plunge + 1HP Chiller/Heater' configuration transforms the ownership experience: a Toshiba-compressor unit with 2700W of cooling capacity spans 37-107 F, runs triple filtration (UVC LED sterilization, automated ozone, a 50-micron filter, plus an automated chlorine dispenser), and connects to a standard 110V outlet with app control. Buyers should be clear-eyed that the base tub is the barrel experience without any of that automation. The 1-year full-coverage warranty is friendlier in wording than most - LIT advertises no fine print - but it is still short, with extended plans sold separately. LIT Method itself is a Los Angeles fitness brand that moved into recovery hardware, so the plunge line is newer than the company's 2016 studio roots.
