Redwood Outdoors has built a name selling attractive barrel saunas that undercut the traditional brands, and the six-person Barrel is the centerpiece at around $6,299. All of their saunas use heat-treated hemlock, which resists the outdoor elements better than untreated softwood, and you can choose an electric heater or a wood-fired stove.
The wood-fired option is the interesting one: it sidesteps the 240V requirement entirely and delivers a very traditional experience, at the cost of tending a fire. Either way this is a lot of sauna for the money. Fit and finish sit a step below the premium cabins, and per-SKU heater specs are not fully published, but for a backyard traditional sauna on a budget it is hard to beat.
