The 8-person Barrel is Redwood's group-size flagship at a per-seat price few outdoor saunas match — $6,899 for a 92.5-inch-long thermowood barrel with the 8kW Harvia heater already included. Capacity is honestly stated as 6-8 depending on how bathers arrange themselves. The trade-offs are the barrel format itself (stave assembly outdoors, curved walls) and Redwood's short 1-year structural warranty.

This is the extra-long version of Redwood's classic barrel, stretched to 92 1/2" L x 72 3/4" W x 76 1/2" H and rated for 6-8 people depending on seating arrangement and bather size. The 1,150 lb kit is Canadian Thermowood — hemlock heat-treated above 400°F for moisture resistance without chemical treatment — sitting on three cradles, with wall-mounted backrests, asphalt shingles, a tempered glass door, sauna rocks, and a bulkhead light all in the box. Unlike Redwood's cabins, the base heater here is already the 8kW Harvia KIP, sensibly matched to the larger volume, with upgrades limited to the 8kW KIP Wi-Fi, 8kW Spirit Wi-Fi, or a 9kW Homecraft H-Series.
The economics are the headline: at $6,899 this costs less than Redwood's own 4-person Cabin while seating up to twice as many, making it one of the cheapest per-seat routes into traditional outdoor sauna ownership. The compromises are known quantities. Barrel construction means outdoor stave-and-band assembly (Redwood provides manuals and videos and says common household tools suffice), curved interior walls, and no porch. Electrically it follows the house pattern — hardwired 240V at 40A for the 8kW heater, 120V lighting, certified electrician required — and Redwood publishes no maximum-temperature or warm-up figure for this model. The structural warranty runs one year, with Harvia's one-year element and five-year component coverage on the heater.
Installation
Outdoor DIY barrel assembly with manual and videos using common household tools; requires a stable, level site; heater must be hardwired by a certified electrician; ships freight in a wooden crate
Electrical
240V hardwired heater circuit (40A for the 8kW base heater); 120V for lighting; certified electrician required
Running cost
8kW heater draws up to about 8 kWh per hour of heating at full output; the large barrel volume makes this the line's higher-usage model
Warranty
1-year limited warranty on the wooden sauna structure; Harvia heater covered 1 year on elements and 5 years on other components (residential)
Maintenance
Optional water-based exterior stain; sauna wax or paraffin oil on interior benches; wipe heater exterior periodically; restack and inspect stones every 6 months
